Part of adapting to our environment is learning to go with the flow.  These relaxation activities will help us all to go with the flow when the changes in our environment. 

Making Stress Balls

What materials do I need?

1 balloon

1 funnel or plastic water bottle

1 bag of sand*

paper plate or other container to catch left over sand

*you can also use beans, popcorn

kernels, flour, salt, beads or anything

that you can fit in the balloon.

1.  Over a paper plate put the funnel

into the top of the balloon and slowly pour in the sand.  

2. Tie the balloon at the top very tight.

3.You can draw a face on your stress

balloon.

Whenever you get stressed use the 

Tucker the Turtle technique 

to calm down and stay in control

while you learn to adapt 

to the situation, you are in.

Your Mom, Dad or special friend will 

mark you Tucker the Turtle Challenge Card every time you use the strategy 

When your card is full send a picture of you with your card to hcfa@hopcenterforautism.org and we 

will send you a certificate for learning 

to stay in control

If your trees are different then you are being a flexible thinker!

If your trees are the same try to draw a tree in a different color.  Try to challenge your brain to be more flexible.

You can also complete the sorting activity, " How to stop germs from spreading" to practice flexible thinking
