Positive Behavior Supports

Positive behavior support (PBS) is a behavior management framework used to understand what maintains an individual's challenging behavior.  Inappropriate behaviors are difficult to change because they are functional; they serve a purpose for the individual.  The Hope Center determines the function of an inappropriate behavior by collecting and analyzing data. Once the function of the behavior is determined then a team of professionals will determine the most appropriate replacement behavior that is socially valid and meets the same function as the behavior targeted for change.

The Hope Center has developed expectations that are to be demonstrated by students and staff.  The expectations are taught and reinforced on a frequent basis.

Try your best.
